Mehdi shares her daily life at éolane as an Industrial Manager

Hello, my name is Mehdi. I earned my degree in Industrial Systems Engineering in 2014 in Tunis. For 13 years, I worked in the energy field as a Test Development Engineer before becoming a Project Manager for 4 years.

In 2019, I arrived in France where I initially worked as a Consultant Project Manager. Subsequently, I joined the Combrée team as the Method Test Manager. For the past 3 months, I have been serving as the Industrial Manager.

What was your first impression when you arrived at éolane?

I was particularly attracted to éolane's job offer. My previous experiences were predominantly within large organizations where processes were already well-established and highly developed, which limited my ability to add value. However, at éolane, I immediately sensed a commitment to progress, and that's what truly convinced me.

My integration went very smoothly. I had the opportunity to meet with various managers, all of whom took the time to make me feel welcome and explain how the company and the EMS industry operate.

I'm fortunate to work under the guidance of a manager who allows me the freedom to lead my team in my own way, and I was pleasantly surprised by the competence and dedication of my colleagues.

Can you describe your main responsibilities for us?

My main responsibilities are centered around two key areas: methodology and testing.

Regarding testing, our focus is on projects. Our responsibility encompasses managing new products, whether it's a derived design or a customer-specific design. Our role extends to industrialization for production, as well as the development of the necessary testing equipment.

As for the methodology side, we are responsible for the industrial management of electronic boards. The established process is straightforward: we identify issues and notify the relevant teams. We oversee the production throughout the product's lifecycle. PCBA are produced based on technical data provided by customers. We carefully assess the feasibility of the brief, ensuring that the board is manufacturable and meets quality objectives.

Who do you interact with?

As an Industrial Manager, I collaborate with all departments of the company, with a significant involvement in production. As mentioned earlier, our team plays a key role as a driver for new projects, but we also contribute to ongoing series production. We are called upon by production when they encounter difficulties.

My work also involves close interaction with the sales teams, Technical Document Management (TDM), Customer Project Managers (CPMs) for new projects, as well as Project Portfolio Managers (PPMs) for existing projects. An essential part of my responsibility is overseeing all testing cost estimates conducted on the Combrée site for the entire CENTRE Region. It's a demanding role, but I greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with such diverse teams and contribute to the overall success of the company.

What motivates you in your work?

I'm very pleased to work on-site. It's crucial for my department to be present to gather the necessary information and provide real support to production. In my view, this is where our value and the strength of our team lie: our responsiveness in addressing encountered issues. It's an invaluable feeling because you directly witness the results of your work.

What qualities are required for your job?

Being attentive is essential. It's very important because, for example, operators can provide us with valuable assistance. We don't just stay confined to our offices! We engage with other departments and members of our team. In fact, I'm fortunate to have an amazing team, and I say that sincerely, not just because I'm their boss! laughs I place a lot of importance on my team, and we invest a lot of time in skill development together.

Self-critique, especially regarding work methods, is a major asset. It's crucial to set aside pride and always move forward. In my opinion, if we're not moving forward, we're moving backward.

On the contrary, are there any constraints to consider?

One must always anticipate and not wait for problems to come to us.

A final word to conclude?

I would like to particularly emphasize the crucial importance of listening, especially with production. Operators are in direct contact with the realities on the ground, and they have very good ideas.
Furthermore, I want to thank my team. Even the best manager cannot achieve anything without a strong and competent team.
