Photo Marie, HR

Hello, my name is Marie and I have been working at éolane for almost a year.

When I first started, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but I knew that I was interested in the social and relational aspect above all. I began as a Site HR Manager, aiming to get as close as possible to the operational side. Being an HR Manager is a meaningful profession for me—it's diverse, versatile, and I really enjoy it. My days fly by, and I can't believe how quickly time passes. *laughs*

Can you describe your main tasks?

The tasks of an HR Manager are diverse. I support managers in daily HR matters and participate in managerial rituals such as go meetings, project steering committees (COPIL), and bi-monthly HR-production meetings, among others. I also lead annual performance review campaigns, conduct people reviews, with the goal of identifying employees with growth potential and implementing career plans. I communicate relevant information to employees and serve as their main point of contact for any HR-related topics. From this perspective, I would say that my main mission is to demonstrate that I am present and accessible to all employees.

I am responsible for recruitment within my area of responsibility and manage relationships with temporary staffing agencies, occupational health services, and labor inspection authorities. I participate in Works Councils (CSE) and Health and Safety Committees (CSSCT), which are employee representative bodies. In short, as I mentioned, the role is very diverse, allowing for a smooth transition from highly operational matters to strategic topics. It is this diversity that makes the position exciting.

Who do you usually interact with?

I interact with all departments, from production to sales. I share my office with HR colleagues, which allows me to stay updated on various topics. It is beneficial as it facilitates the harmonization of best practices. We complement each other and support one another, which creates a very pleasant working environment.

What excites you the most about your job?

The human aspect! I wouldn't be in this profession otherwise. *laughs* I support managers and all employees in their daily challenges, and I feel useful in doing so.

According to you, what qualities are required to excel in this profession?

There are many aspects to the HR profession, making it a comprehensive role. Effective communication and empathy are essential to understanding individuals' personal challenges and providing reassurance without becoming overly sentimental. Organization is equally important as an HR professional needs to be a versatile multitasker, adept at managing various topics simultaneously. It is crucial to have a good understanding of HR matters and to be curious, staying informed about new laws and best practices.

In terms of qualities, I would also mention leadership, although I believe it is something that is developed throughout one's life and experiences. It is important to learn how to position oneself and assert influence within different teams. Although you may not be directly part of their hierarchy, you still need to guide them with a certain HR sensitivity. It is a delicate balance that needs to be constantly maintained.

And, conversely, what constraints should be taken into account?

You need to be able to juggle! This implies not being too much of a perfectionist. With this profession, I have learned what humility means. laughs It is impossible to know everything, and as an HR professional, you must learn to contain people's anger. You need to be able to take a step back and learn how to protect yourself. This is an aspect of the job that I had not fully anticipated before.

What are your future prospects? What comes next after being an HR Manager?

The next milestone would be HR Director (Directeur Ressources Humaines), depending on individual aspirations. It's important to ask oneself the right questions: Do you want to become a manager? Do you wish to take on greater responsibilities? It is possible to specialize in recruitment or focus on other HR projects, or even become a freelancer. Once again, the HR field offers numerous possibilities. Moreover, from my perspective, in Human Resources, one is not limited by industry. I joined éolane because of the nature of the missions offered, the context, and the team in which I would be integrated.

One final word to conclude?

There are many upcoming HR challenges, and we can see that the company is rapidly evolving on many fronts, which creates a very positive dynamic!
